DON JONES
OWNER AT CONTROLLED HYDRONICS

Don Jones has 44 years experience in the Field Service Industry. Don started as a sheet metal duct installer in the Northeast, and quickly became a lead sheet metal mechanic. After 2 years, he purchased equipment and started his own sheet metal contracting business. At this point Don began learning about oil and gas fired burners as well as low voltage control wiring. Always interested in learning new things, he began installing boilers and forced hot water systems as well. When a recession hit New England in the late 80’s, Don moved his family to Colorado and worked 2 years as a serviceman, troubleshooting and repairing boilers and low voltage control systems, before again, starting his own business. At this time, Don hired a master plumber and began bidding plumbing and hydronic heating systems. Shortly after that, he began studying Solar Thermal and Solar Photovoltaic systems, at Solar Energy International, which culminated in several thermal installations as well as a 460 panel PV system at a waste water treatment plant. Having sold his sheet metal equipment to finance his trip west, Don again set up a sheet metal shop so he could handle all plumbing & mechanical aspects of new construction. His business now employs over 20 employees in 3 locations in Western Colorado.
